The green flowed all the way down to the stage, I was high enough to surf the rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>The crowd was\u00a0spread out like a tossed bowl of candies on their blankets, they got their glasses\u00a0in the shade. Their backs were to me, so I was free of them.<\/p>\n<p>I had\u00a0a rock and brought a pillow but I didn&#8217;t want them for long. When the notes hit me, they broke me down and I got up and moved.<\/p>\n<p>For two numbers, I improvised my limbs one axe\u00a0heat after another. I climbed the rope and twisted in the wind. No noodlin&#8217; and no schmaltz to drag me down.<\/p>\n<p>The sax grabbed a bird&#8217;s eye and I rode on its back. That kid could blow.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9270\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lisaschnellinger.com\/pennies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/jazz-field-2.jpg\" alt=\"jazz-field-2\" width=\"650\" height=\"543\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lisaschnellinger.com\/pennies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/jazz-field-2.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.lisaschnellinger.com\/pennies\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/jazz-field-2-300x251.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I rode the dragonflies with my fingers, they all\u00a0turned golden when\u00a0the sunset electrified their wings.\u00a0No one cared if I was going to flip, I didn&#8217;t care, I was booted with these guys.<\/p>\n<p>When they gave that hide hitter some heat, the grass grooved with him, all slashes of beauty, and I was jumpin&#8217; in the pocket. I don&#8217;t know if they could see me but I felt like\u00a0it was jake and anyhow I didn&#8217;t care.<\/p>\n<p>I hated hearing the final tag and was sorry when they had to cut.
