The secret to happiness and health

For 75 years, Harvard has been tracking a group of ordinary American men and their families. From the thousands of pages of research that this study entailed, they found out the secret of happiness and health.

You can hear all the details in a TED talk, below, or …

… you can read my summary here.

The secret to health and happiness – and long life – is simple. It’s got no connection to money, career, or any of that stuff that we spend so much time and energy worrying about.

The secret to health and happiness is good relationships.

Close family members. A loving spouse. Loyal friends.

It’s not about having 950 Facebook friends because it’s not about the numbers. It’s about the quality of those relationships.

After what I went through – a brain trauma and now a long recovery – I can vouch for the validity of this study.

Tom, my sisters, my incredible friends – they are what is going to make the difference between life and death for me.

If I live to be 100, I will have them to thank.

Today’s penny is a 2015, because I almost died and didn’t. I had people to live for.

  1. Good post….and I think there is real strength is how it feels to BE a good friend to someone. It’s…what? An honor? A gift? A privilege? Something like that.
